Karnataka Speaker K R Ramesh – at the centre of the political crisis – Tuesday sought time till tomorrow to decide on the disqualification and resignation of the rebel MLAs. During a hearing in the Supreme Court, senior advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi requested it to modify its earlier order directing him to maintain status quo on the matter.

కర్నాటకలో రాజకీయ సంక్షోభం సుప్రీం కోర్టుకు చేరిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. తమపై నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవడంలో స్పీకర్ జాప్యం చేస్తున్నారని కాంగ్రెస్ జేడీఎస్ రెబెల్ ఎమ్మెల్యేలు సుప్రీంకోర్టును ఆశ్రయించారు. పిటిషన్ను విచారణ చేపట్టిన స్పీకర్ ఎందుకు ఎమ్మెల్యేలపై నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవడం లేదో చెప్పాలని చీఫ్ జస్టిస్ రంజన్ గొగోయ్ కోరారు. దీంతో రెబెల్ ఎమ్మెల్యేలపై రేపటిలోగా నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంటామని ఆ రాష్ట్ర స్పీకర్ కేఆర్ రమేష్ తెలిపారు.
